This course is designed for artists who want to explore the expressive potential of monochrome drawing. Using graphite and charcoal, we’ll focus on foundational techniques such as shading, texture, contrast, and composition to bring your drawings to life without the use of color. Through a mix of guided exercises and personal projects, you’ll develop your observational skills and discover how light and shadow can tell powerful visual stories. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills, this course offers a focused, hands-on approach to drawing in black and white.
 
*Credit will be offered for absences with one week prior notice. If you are feeling unwell, we will happily reschedule
 
*Returning students are welcome to start their self-directed project at their leisure, or ask to be given an assignment.
