Figure Block-In with Andrew Harris

Tuesday through Friday July 2nd to 5th, 2024

all materials included

Ages 14+

Students work directly from the model with a 1-day pose, and a 3-day pose. The workshop introduces concepts such as the envelop technique, how and when to use plum lines, comparative measurements, perspective and foreshortening, abstract form stacking and form twists, anatomical structure analyses, and box forms. By learning directly from the figure, students can learn how to engage nature, and learn how to adapt to the all the nuanced aspects of working from life. During the 3-day pose, students spend their time working from 1 pose. This gives the opportunity to find acute information in their drawings, helps refinement of line-work, and gives the students a chance to create a finalized 3-day block-in, which is a standard timeframe for modelled drawings and paintings for a figure.
