This creative summer program is designed for middle school students preparing to apply to specialized art high schools or looking to strengthen their artistic skills and confidence. Students will build a strong foundation in fine art while creating portfolio pieces that reflect both technical growth and personal creativity.
Through drawing, painting, mixed media, observational studies, and creative projects, students will explore important artistic concepts including composition, shading, colour theory, perspective, and visual storytelling. Emphasis is placed on developing original ideas, experimenting with materials, and learning how to complete and present artwork thoughtfully.
Students will receive individualized guidance and supportive feedback while working on projects suitable for portfolio submissions. The course also introduces sketchbook practices, creative problem-solving, and ways to develop a unique artistic voice.
Open to all skill levels, this welcoming and encouraging environment helps young artists grow their abilities, expand their creativity, and prepare confidently for future art school applications.
*Credit will be offered for absences with one week's prior notice. If you are feeling unwell, we will happily reschedule.
