Summer Art Lab: Create, Experiment & Explore 🎨☀️

A summer for curious minds, big ideas, and young artists ready to take their creativity further!

Our Summer Art Lab invites older kids and teens to explore the world through the eyes of an artist, designer, and inventor. Through hands-on artmaking, experimentation, and individualized instruction, students will develop new skills, discover their interests, and build the confidence to bring their own ideas to life.

What makes our program different?

We go beyond step-by-step projects. Students work with instructors to set personal goals, identify areas they want to explore, and develop their own creative direction. Alongside guided lessons, self-directed studies give students the freedom to experiment, problem-solve, and pursue projects that genuinely interest them. Class sizes are under ten students to ensure ample time to meet the individual interests of the group!

From observing the world like an artist to understanding materials and structures like an engineer, students will explore the connections between art, science, design, and everyday life. Each student’s experience will evolve around their interests, abilities, and goals, with instructor support to help them grow at their own pace.

Whether they're discovering a new medium, developing a personal project, or preparing a portfolio for future art studies, there's room to take creative risks, try something unexpected, and make the work entirely their own.

What We'll Explore

  • Painting & Observation: Experiment with acrylic, mixed media, colour, and observational painting.

  • Sculpture & Making: Build three-dimensional creations using air-dry clay, cardboard, papier-mâché, and recycled materials.

  • Art Skills & Techniques: Develop drawing, perspective, colour theory, graphic design, and foundational art principles.

  • Portfolio Development: For youth interested in pursuing art, explore portfolio-building techniques and preparation for competitive arts programs.

  • Creative Initiative: Learn how to turn an idea into an independent project, from brainstorming and planning to experimentation and completion.

  • Self-Directed Studies: Set personal goals, follow individual interests, and receive individualized instructor support throughout the creative process.

A Summer of Making, Exploring & Growing

Our summer camps combine structured art lessons with independent projects, creative challenges, and opportunities to explore the world around us. Students will have time to develop their technical skills, collaborate with others, and follow their curiosity in a relaxed, supportive studio environment.

Our goal is to give young artists more than a collection of projects to take home. We want them to leave with new skills, a stronger sense of their creative voice, and the confidence to keep making, questioning, and exploring long after summer ends.
