Creative Beginnings: Medium Exploration

This class is all about enjoying the process of learning art. No experience is needed. Over five weeks, you’ll explore different tools, techniques, and media, building your skills and confidence along the way.
What You’ll Learn:
- How to draw, shade, and bring your ideas to life.
- The basics of colour and painting in acrylic and watercolours.
- Techniques to build your confidence and creativity.
- By the end, you’ll have a collection of art pieces.
Weekly Plan:
Week 1: Let’s Start Drawing & Shading Made Simple
- Focus: Learn how to create simple drawings using lines, shapes, and forms.
- Activities: Introduction to tools, fun line exercises, and basic observational drawing.
- Takeaway: A solid start to your drawing journey.
- Focus: Use light and shadow to make drawings look 3D.
Week 2: Adding Color
- Focus: Learn the basics of colour theory and blending.
- Activities: Explore the colour wheel and practice layering colours with pencils or pastels (chalk/oil).
- Takeaway: Understand how to work with colour effectively.
Week 3: Watercolor Basics
- Focus: Experiment with watercolour techniques like washes and blending.
- Activities: Create a simple watercolour piece using basic techniques.
- Takeaway: Feel more comfortable using watercolors.
Week 4: Acrylic Basics
- Focus: Arrange elements in your artwork and understand basic painting techniques
- Activities: Painting a still life.
- Takeaway: Create a painting with depth and dimension.
Week 5: Your Final Artwork
- Focus: Apply what you’ve learned to create a final piece of your choice.
- Activities: Guided time to create and share your work with the group.
- Takeaway: A finished piece that showcases your progress and creativity. Develop confidence in your style.
